Dear Peter,

On behalf of President Aznar and myself, I would like to warmly thank you for supporting us by hosting a lunch on behalf of the Friends of Israel Initiative and for your pledge of a donation. It was a great pleasure for me to share with you and your guest some of the actions we have taken and the goals we are aiming to achieve.

This year is especially critical for the future of Israel and the entire region. Every effort to strengthen Israel and preserve Israel’s freedom to act is crucial, and we are in the process of expanding our efforts accordingly. You can be assured of that.

I sincerely hope we have further opportunities to meet and discuss the strategic challenges for Israel that we strongly believe are the same challenges for all of us. It would be a pleasure and an honor to count on you again in the future since your support is invaluable for our cause.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact me about any issue you may consider appropriate. Again, thank you very much on my behalf and on behalf of President Aznar, our chairman, and everybody involved in FoII.

All my best,

Rafael Bardají

Executive Director

Peter’s Views on Youth Fashion Today

What kind of society are we moving to where so many of young people copy the baggy “Butt crack” revealing slacks and full body tattoos dress of prisoners rather than the clothes of businessmen, lawyers Cary Grant, Duke Ellington, Fred Astaire or President Obama.

Peter’s E-mail to Professor Robert Reich

Re: Your ongoing attack on Capitalism

Dear Robert,

You must know that Rangoon was the jewel of Southeast Asia in 1954 and when I visited it in 1990 it was a sad city. You must know that Vietnam, led by now capitalist former Socialist North is far more desirable than North Korea still socialist as of course is South Korea. That Russia in 1910 had a dynamic growing economy that by 1960 had people waiting in line for shortages. I’m sure you know in Cuba that the educated young women are often prostitutes for want of jobs.

Why do you attack rich, powerful, denigrate them, want to make them want to hide or leave and stop starting businesses and hiring people.

I understand you have been on a college campus and probably created jobs with a salary, but never “risk” money. Why not visit businesses and see what businesses go through, interest running on loans, unions featherbedding, disinterested planning officials, regulation that is too often not sensible, then your wanting to tax more. Makes no sense. Why not look at workers spiking, bad back firefighters retiring at 38 and playing golf, government policies well intended that led to dishonest bankers loaning to unqualified using teaser rates.

Why not push people to be all they can be at creating businesses and workers.

No one owes us a thing. Our moral duty is to help poor help themselves. The best way this country can do it is to incentivize people to build and start businesses that will hire others. The President can be a pro businesses “ bully pulpit”. This one is not, at least as I see it.

Sincerely,

On The Arizona Shooting

Was the perpetrator mentally ill? Most assuredly?

Was he inflamed by talk show and politicians? Possibly. We don’t know.

Was the killing politically motivated as opposed to a random shooting? It seems so. If not he would have targeted a girlfriend, a doctor, a veterinarian or an abortion doctor. He aimed at an elected official.

Part Union, Part Monopoly

Watching seven workers watch and one person dig on construction sites like the entrance to Golden Gate makes me cringe. If it were an entrepreneur’s project and he owned the road, he would not allow it. It’s part union, part monopoly with PG&E, or a bid winner who can raise costs and has no competition. They are not paid on incentives. That’s why.

RE: Daniel Richardson and his Kill

Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom is correct.

Regulators should look out for this animal population especially in California where they are endangered and there is a ban on killing them. Unfortunately, I am told the ban is often breached in California by livestock owners.

By bragging and being photographed killing this beautiful animal, Daniel Richardson serves as a role model to encourage shooting them in our State on the sly. We need a person in charge in California who protects the Cats, wildlife in general. And to say he eats the meat is an embarsaament. I hope he is relieved of his duties and replaced with a protector. ASAP.

America

America is an idea, the last great refuge. China may attract people for making money, but not for freedom of expression, of religion, of politics.

In Need of a Change

I think we need a change in US management. Obama has done a good job in foreign policy. He’s a good guy. But the business community is the Engine. Its heart is not in the economy in America. We need to bring in a Jim Harbaugh to replace Mike Singletary.
